Here and There...

Hugh Jackman was kind of quiet on the movie front the last two years as everyone tried to forget about Van Helsing :) Now all of a sudden, he’s everywhere. First up, X3: Last Stand as Wolverine, then a magician in The Prestige, three different people in The Fountain (yeah, I don’t get it yet either), a newly optioned noir crime thriller as a getaway driver in Drive, a cameo in Superman Returns as a young Superman’s Father (Wolverine is Supe’s Father – now there’s your Identity Crisis, DC!), and in 2007 a Wolverine solo movie (do NOT screw this up Marvel)...

If you want a cheap laugh, just watch any US news network (not an all sports network, something like Headline News or CNN), and if you’re patient enough to wait for them to actually get around to showing NHL highlights in their brief sports coverage, you’ll usually be rewarded with some remarkable butchering of pronunciation of player’s names. Just goes to show how little they care about hockey, but it can be funny to listen to…

I was wondering how long it’d be before they’d be back. The Dixie Chicks are back in the news as they start promoting a new album coming out on May 23rd. called “Taking the Long Way.” (I like the album cover art) I haven’t heard the first single – “Not Ready To Make Nice” yet, but the lyrics are up on their website. Read that and take a wild guess what they’re singing about. I like the lyrics and the attitude behind it. I hope the song sounds good though. Don’t expect a strictly “country” album either, from the sounds of their inspirations listed in the press release. Looks like they’re going after a broader market after the country crowd turned on them in the aftermath of Natalie Maines comments. That whole thing was ridiculous – heard of free speech anyone?

Great quote from TV show Dead Like Me (another good one cancelled way too soon.)
“I don’t envy you kid. You live in a world of 12,000 menus and nothing to eat.”
