Bad Santa, Bad DVD
Movie DVD for Bad Santa (Director's Cut) CinemaBlend reviews the new, triple dip, Bad Santa Director's Cut DVD at the above link, and I'm glad I read it. Bad Santa is one of my favorite "holiday" movies - and comedies. No, it is certainly NOT for kids, and it's not one of those schmaltzy 'it's the most wonderful time of the year' movies either. It's the perfect movie for the cynical, tired of the commercialism, kind of people. Plus, it's pretty funny. Now, I was wondering what they'd add to the Director's Cut DVD that wouldn't be on the Unrated version that I already have. Turns out, there's nothing added. In fact, there are scenes cut out of the movie. There is actually LESS movie on this disc than either the theatrical or unrated DVD's. That is just appalling for a triple dip. There aren't even any bonus extras not already available. What were they thinking with this effort? Plus, the cover doesn't even have a pic of Lauren Graham on it, who plays the Santa fixated bartender. Come on now, if you're going to stoop to shoddy tactics to triple dip money on DVD sales, at least put a good looking chick on the cover. That'll sell even more, right? |

I'd have to agree with you on the fact that "Bad Santa" is probably one of my favorite holiday movies too. I can watch it neumerous amount of times and still laugh at the same jokes.
Thanks on the heads-up about the lack of content on the new DVD. I guess I will just stick with my copy of "Badder Santa".
I actually like "Elf" but "Bad Santa" is great in its own way. As for the DVD...wow. That's kinda sad. You figure by the third time they'd better put some really good stuff in there to get people to buy it. I guess if I do end up with a copy down the road I'll have to look for the director's cut!
Jason: thanks for dropping by. Yep, stick with the Badder Santa DVD, 'make a sandwich' and enjoy the repeat laughs :)
Marina: I liked ELF too (more for Zooey Deschanel than Will Ferrell), but Bad Santa's dark humour is more my style. And no, you do NOT want to get the director's cut, you want the Unrated Badder Santer version that came out first. It has 96 minutes of movie, whereas the Director's Cut version only has 88. Weird...
